From the artist: Stacey SterlingMy passion is painting. This is where I gather my strength and positive energy to go through life. My idea is to bring people closer together, inspiring hope and joy. I have been hand-painting children's clothing for 20 years from California to Greece-- now selling at Pike Place Public Market in Seattle. In 2005 I began to show canvas and public art. Contributing public art to the Red Door Campaign, benefiting Gilda's Club of Seattle, gave me the opportunity to help people for the first time with my art. Later opportunities to use my art to help improve my community have included public art for the Northwest Center and benefit art for Alki Elementary School. If brightly painted swirls of color and whimsical creations bring me and my observer closer to nature and invoke a smile, I know I must be doing something right. About the ArtistPassionate about color and light, Stacey Sterling explores her canvas like the world that surrounds her. The sun seeps through the colorful canvas and water swirls and dances through her images. Stacey's whimsical cows and pigs bring a smile to the viewer while Stacey was born in Southern California and feels fortunate to have lived by the ocean. Her love of travel brought her several times to Europe, photographing and painting watercolors along the way. She ended up living on a Greek Island for eleven years. That is where her inspiration from the earth, sun and water became evident in her work. From that time on, she has painted with water-based paint on fabrics and acrylics on canvas. Currently Stacey lives with her two children in West Seattle. She enjoys painting from her studio, enhanced by the beauty of its Northwest surroundings. |
